Thank you for your nominations!

BIBA is pleased to announce the establishment of the Gail Grainger Memorial Award, commemorating Gail’s significant contributions to the Iberian barbershop community. Gail’s dedication, warmth, talent, and leadership enriched choruses and quartets in both the UK and Spain, including Mountain Harmony, The White Rosettes, Tyneside Ladies, The Velvetones, Spangles Ladies’ Harmony Chorus, and Torrevieja Harmonizers. She also served as President of the Spanish Association of Barbershop Singers (SABS) sharing her musical talent and insight to singers in Spain and Portugal. Upon returning to the UK, Gail continued contributing to the barbershop community as part of the Contest Administration team of LABBS.
A message from Gail’s daughter, Zoë Gibson:
“Gail's family are thrilled beyond measure that Gail's life, her talents and her deep love of barbershop and all those involved in it, will be remembered for many years into the future. It means more than words can express, to Charles, myself and Olivia that her name and memory will live on in the Iberian circle of barbershop which she worked so tirelessly to build up. She would have been immensely proud, as we are, to be recognised in this way and we would like to share our deep gratitude to BIBA for this wonderful lasting legacy.”
This award will recognize a BIBA member who exemplifies Gail’s selfless support of barbershop harmony. The ideal nominee is someone who may not often be in the spotlight or hold leadership titles, but whose behind-the-scenes contributions make a profound difference to their chorus, quartet, or the wider BIBA community.
The inaugural award will be presented at the En Armonía Convention in April 2026.
